EPDP Visits Burgos Wind Farm in Ilocos

On 25 October 2017, select EPDP fellows and staff, joined by representatives from the Philippine Competition Commission, visited the Burgos Wind Project in Ilocos Norte to learn more about the project’s operations and maintenance. Tagged as the largest in Southeast Asia, the wind project generates 370 GWh of electricity annually and can power 200,000 households with its 50 3-MW turbines. Moreover, the project displaces 200,000 tons of carbon emission per annum.

The visit started with EDC’s overview of their renewable energy portfolio, and a detailed presentation of the wind project. The visit was hosted by EDC, under the supervision of Site Manager Cesar Aguilar and O&M Manager Andy Durog, and in partnership with the provincial government. In addition to the wind farm tour, the group was also able to visit the company’s 7-MW solar farm on the same day.
